About Me
Jonny Barefoot (Engineer and Owner)
Originally from Western New York, I've been playing music since I was a kid. I started with piano around the age of 6 and eventually made my way into playing guitar, bass and drums. I've been playing in indie and hardcore punk bands since 2011. Around the age of 16 I started getting into recording with a USB mic and Audacity.
Eventually I started recording demos and doing pre-production for my band, after much trial and error I ended up with a well equipped home studio full of analog gear, tube amps and instruments. In 2022 I came up with the name Transient Aggression Sound and started working as an engineer in my home studio as well as Cold War Studios in Grand Rapids. After a couple years of doing things on my own, I entered a mentorship program with Jay Maas (Defeater, Love Letter, etc.) to really hone my skills.

As an engineer I really enjoy acting as an extra member of the band by offering insight and ideas, whether it's related to song structure or adding another vocal or guitar layer,etc. My goal is to create a comfortable environment for collaboration and to see your songs take shape.

Recording
I can help you bring your songs to life whether I take a strictly engineer role or a producer role. I am also available to perform guitar or bass on your track and have access to session drummers
Editing and re-amping
Have your tracks cleaned up from unwanted noise and correct performance / timing issues. I can also run your clean DI track through my collection of amplifiers, pedals and outboard gear
Mixing and Mastering
I can take your tracks to the next level by applying processing to acheive punch and cohesion as well as bringing them up to a competitive volume and prepare them for release
